Restore your worn down teeth to their best looks ever with porcelain veneers and dental crowns.
Decayed, worn down or fractured teeth can all be fixed by placing crowns or porcelain veneers over them which are shaped just like a healthy tooth. Despite the fact there are obvious benefits in appearance, the main reason for placing crowns is to strengthen damaged teeth so they can withstand the large forces we exert on them when we eat. And thanks to the latest developments, crowns and porcelain crowns can now blend in seamlessly with your other teeth.
Why would you need crowns ?
Crowns are used for a number of reasons, mainly where veneers or dental bonding restorations don’t provide a strong enough solution.
For heavily decayed teeth
For heavily fractured teeth
For heavily eroded teeth
For teeth with a large cavity
To cover a dental implant
Following root canal treatment
For cosmetic reasons
If any of these conditions suit you, we recommend booking an appointment to see if crowns or veneers are right for you.
Here’s a little bit more information about crowns if you’re interested in learning more
Crowns are also known as caps because they completely encircle the weak tooth above the gum and protect it. They can be made of metal (often gold) or porcelain or a combination of the two.
In a nutshell: Gold is the strongest option and often used for the back teeth which are out of view.
The new and almost transparent porcelain crowns blend seamlessly with existing teeth and are therefore a more popular choice for the front teeth.
A happy medium between the two is therefore gold crowns with a thin veneer of porcelain over the top.
Each option has pros and cons and our initial consultation with you will determine which crowns will work best for you.
The process of creating crowns
Step one: After an initial consultation, we will clean the tooth and then reshape it under local anesthesia to accommodate the crown. We’ll then take a mould of your tooth and give this to the lab where crowns and porcelain veneers are custom-made. During this time we provide you with a temporary crown.
Step two: When you visit us again, we’ll remove the temporary crown and place the new one to ensure it fits with your smile and bite. If we are happy with the result, your new crown is bonded to the tooth and you walk out with your smile restored!
Traditionally, dental veneers required some tooth structure to be reshaped before they could be placed
Step three: When you visit us again, we’ll remove the temporary crown and place the new one to see it fits with your smile and bite. If we are happy with the result, your new crown is placed and you walk out with your smile restored!
Dental veneers in Ellenbrook – we have the power to totally transform your smile…
Commonly used to achieve the ultimate smile makeover, porcelain veneers are custom-made, ultra-thin shells of tooth-coloured porcelain that are bonded to the front of your teeth. Comparable to what artificial fingernails can do for hands, dental veneers can transform crooked, badly worn, gappy or stained teeth; resulting in a true ‘Hollywood’ smile.
Traditionally, dental veneers required some tooth structure to be reshaped before they could be placed.
